décoration barette

An original decoration in Swedish embroidery, designed as a small textile barrette to attach to a garment or accessory to add a stitched and personalized touch.

Made on a Zweigart Belfast canvas, the embroidery plays with the regularity of lines and the geometry characteristic of Swedish embroidery. The pattern is worked with DMC Diamant D321 thread, used in single, whose shiny appearance brings light and elegance to the whole.

The embroidery is then enhanced with 15 3 mm cups and 15 small gold beads 12/0. Each cup is held by a bead, creating a succession of small bright points that highlight the shape of the creation.

The central pointed motif and the regular lines give this small piece a graphic and contemporary look. The combination of metallic thread, cups, and beads also shows how traditional Swedish embroidery can be enriched with techniques and materials from decorative embroidery.

Once the embroidery is finished, it is mounted on Jeffitex, a rigid felt that gives its hold and final shape to the barrette. The cutting pattern and the different steps of gluing are explained in the model.

Two pin-type attachments are then placed on the back to easily fix the decoration onto the chosen support.

A small original project that allows for reinterpreting Swedish embroidery to create a true textile accessory to wear or use to personalize bags and other creations.
