An adorable keychain "Ballotin" in Swedish embroidery, to be made in a few steps to create a small original textile accessory that is entirely handmade.

The geometric pattern is embroidered on a Zweigart Belfast fabric with Soie 1003 d’Au Ver à Soie®, used double. The regular repetition of stitches creates a small graphic decoration that beautifully highlights the structure of the fabric.

After the embroidery, the fabric is folded and assembled according to a particular method that gives the keychain its lovely three-dimensional ballotin shape. The piece is then lightly padded before being closed with small stitches.

A red cord completes the creation and allows the ballotin to be attached to the keychain ring. The file also explains how to make this cord by twisting the threads to obtain a thicker and more durable cord.

With its small dimensions of 4 × 4 cm, this model is a lovely project to discover how Swedish embroidery can be used beyond household linen and become a small decorative accessory.
