An elegant card holder in Swedish embroidery, combining thread work with the technique of cardboard to create a refined and practical small accessory.
The cover is decorated with a geometric pattern characteristic of Swedish embroidery, made on a Zweigart Belfast fabric with Soie 1003 d’Au Ver à Soie®, used double.
Three shades of silk alternate in the diagram and create a lovely harmony of colors. The repetition of patterns and the alternation of colors give rhythm to the composition while maintaining the regular and graphic aspect typical of this embroidery technique.
Once the embroidery is finished, the model guides you through the complete making of the cardboard card holder. The embroidery is carefully centered on the cover before being mounted on cardboard and batting.
The interior is then dressed and arranged with several pockets allowing cards to be slipped in. The central hinge and the various elements are constructed separately before the final assembly.
The numerous photographs on pages 3 and 4 allow you to follow the different steps of the cardboard work: cutting the cardboard, positioning the embroidery, making the hinge, dressing the different pieces, and assembling the inner pockets.
This model thus allows you to discover an original use of Swedish embroidery, transformed into a decorative element to create a fully handmade textile and cardboard accessory.
