Tonkin Thread – Shiny and Gimped Embroidery Thread

The Tonkin Thread is a shiny embroidery thread made in France, particularly appreciated for its luminous appearance and slight relief. Its original construction combines a fine strip of golden Lurex with textured polyester, creating a gimped thread that is both decorative, flexible, and pleasant to work with.

Composed of 4 separable strands, the Tonkin Thread allows for easy adjustment of the thread thickness and the intensity of the effect obtained depending on the fabric, the stitch used, and the desired result. For cross-stitch and many embroidery projects, it can notably be used with two strands.
