The Soie d’Alger® is one of the iconic threads of the Au Ver à Soie house. Made from schappe silk (combed silk), it consists of 7 easily separable strands, allowing you to adjust the number of strands to the fineness and effect desired.

Soft, supple, and delicately shiny, it is suitable for many techniques of traditional embroidery, art embroidery, haute couture embroidery, cross stitch, and needlework.

The Soie d’Alger® is offered in an exceptional palette of over 600 colors, particularly interesting for creating gradients and subtle harmonies.

Contrary to what its name might suggest, the Soie d’Alger® does not come from Algeria. The name "Alger" refers to a manufacturing process developed by Au Ver à Soie in the 19th century.
