Au Ver à Soie®’s Soie d’Alger is an exceptional silk embroidery thread. Made of 7 easily separable strands, this schappe silk thread (combed silk) offers a soft and natural sheen. Its smooth texture and satin finish make it a luxurious embroidery thread, perfect for all kinds of needlework.

Soie d’Alger is used like a classic stranded cotton in all types of traditional embroidery, on fabric, canvas or silk gauze. Depending on the fabric, it can be used with one or several strands to create a wide range of textures and effects. This thread is easy to divide and adapts beautifully to each embroidery technique.

Produced in France by the Au Ver à Soie company, Soie d’Alger is known for its subtle shine, durability, and rich color palette. Despite its name, Soie d’Alger® does not come from Algeria — the term 'Alger' refers to a historical manufacturing process specific to the brand.
