The Soie d’Alger® is one of the iconic threads from the house of Au Ver à Soie. Made from schappe silk (combed silk), it consists of 7 easily separable strands, allowing you to adjust the number of strands to the fineness and effect desired.

Soft, supple, and delicately shiny, it is suitable for many techniques of traditional embroidery, art embroidery, haute couture embroidery, cross-stitch, and needlework.

The Soie d’Alger® is offered in an exceptional palette of over 600 colors, allowing for subtle gradients and rich color harmonies.

Contrary to what its name might suggest, the Soie d’Alger® does not come from Algeria. The name "Alger" refers to a manufacturing process developed by Au Ver à Soie in the 19th century.
